The origin of Lavender is believed to be from the Mediterranean, Middle East and India. Its history goes back some 2500 years deriving its name from the Latin ‘lavare’ meaning ‘to wash”. The Romans used Lavender to scent their baths, beds, clothes and hair. Its reported uses and benefits include: analgesic, disinfectant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anti-fungal, sleep inducing and an insect repellent. Lavender is widely regarded as one of the most versatile essential oil and is one of the few that can be used undiluted.
